Johan Blende is a Swedish music producer, song writer and DJ. For the biggest part of this side of the millennium he’s been weaving together modern dance music elements with retro sounds of the ‘70s and ‘80s.
Originally from Stockholm, Johan is currently residing in London where he has spent most of the past 20 years. Having an early love for organic pop music, disco & punk as well as ‘90s techno & house, he collected records in his youth that led to a passion for DJ-ing. Finding it would make sense to make his own records it wasn’t always obvious what he wanted to focus on, approaching it more as an ever developing process. Starting off releasing a few rowdy EPs and remixes on various European and US labels, he eventually started going back more to his roots and in 2012 he signed with Belgian disco label Eskimo, releasing a string of singles; 'Fake Love', 'Rikki' and 'Running', which received rotation on national radio in Belgium, The Netherlands, UK & Sweden. The instrumental 'Paramount EP' was a textbook example of the sound of Blende.
Taking a temporary hiatus from DJ sets & releasing records during 2015-16 to collaborate and redefine his sound, Johan returned with arguably his strongest efforts to date, 'Back to Summertime' and 'Do You Remember?', a Moroder'esque disco/house track featuring Mickael Karkousse, frontman of Belgian electro-rock stars GOOSE.
